I was fortunate to land at Deloitte, Kearney, Beamery, and now Workday without a target school background or an MBA. No on-campus recruiting. Every role came through strategic networking. I've coached 50+ people into consulting and strategy roles the same way. They're at McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte, EY, Workday, Salesforce, Capital One, Mastercard, and other similar orgs. I'm a first-generation college graduate from UMass Lowell. I built my career by networking and interviewing well, not credentials. Most of my clients come to me when the traditional path isn't working for them. One unfortunate reality is that consulting and strategy roles are still largely built around target schools and MBA pipelines, where firms come to you. If you do not have that, the system often assumes you are not competitive. I have seen that firsthand, and it is simply not true. Over the last seven years, I have recruited into roles in consulting and enterprise tech (8 offers total, 4 roles), built my career without a target school background, and grown my comp by 3x since my first role. I have coached 50+ people through case prep, behavioral interviews, and negotiation. What I help with: building a career strategy that compounds, not one that resets every time the market shifts.
