About the event

Most emails to potential PhD advisors get ignored, not because the applicant isn't qualified, but because the email could have been sent to any professor in the field. This workshop looks at what actually gets a response: naming a specific paper or project from the lab's current work, asking one clear question instead of several, and timing the outreach before the advisor's calendar fills up with admissions season. Loubna Bouamane spent years on the admissions side of graduate programs, reviewing applications and sitting on selection committees. She covers what separates an email that gets a reply from one that gets deleted, and the small adjustments that make an applicant's interest read as genuine rather than generic.
