By Charlie P.5.0· 10 reviewsRaising Money in Venture Capital & Growth Equity | Summit Partners, Harvard

Five one-on-one sessions to sharpen your pitch, work through your numbers, and prepare for conversations with investors. We’ll work with your business and fundraising goals directly, using your deck, financial model, and existing materials wherever available. Here’s the starting framework: 1. Why this business? Refine how you explain the problem, your solution, your traction, and why you’re the team to build it. Get clear on what you’re raising and what that capital will help you achieve. 2. Do the numbers hold up? Work through your business model, revenue drivers, unit economics, burn, and runway. Review financial projections and pressure-test the assumptions an investor is likely to question. 3. Why this market- and why now? Build a convincing view of your market, competition, and opportunity. Explain what makes your approach different and why the business has room to become meaningful. 4. Which investors- and how do you approach them? Identify the types of investors that fit your stage, sector, and raise. Work on your outreach, meeting preparation, and how to tailor your pitch to the person across the table. 5. Mock investor meeting. Practice your pitch and handle follow-up questions about your business, financials, and fundraising plans. Get direct feedback on both your answers and your delivery. Financial concepts and investor questions will come up throughout. We’ll tailor the order and depth to your stage, existing materials, and fundraising timeline.

We’ll work through your business from an investor’s perspective: what’s compelling, what’s unclear, and what needs more support. I’ll ask follow-up questions, challenge assumptions, and help you explain your business and numbers clearly. I bring experience in venture capital and growth equity, including at Summit Partners. Sessions are hands-on: we can work through your deck, review financial assumptions, or rehearse an upcoming meeting. The structure gives us a starting point; your business and fundraising timeline determine where we spend the time.

  • A clearer pitch covering your business, traction, team, and fundraising ask.
  • Specific improvements to your pitch materials, including gaps to address before investor meetings.
  • A stronger grasp of your financial model, key metrics, and the assumptions behind your projections.
  • A focused approach to identifying relevant investors and preparing outreach.
  • A completed mock investor meeting, with actionable feedback and practice answering difficult questions.

I have 4+ years investing across Growth Equity, Venture Capital and Private Equity. I spent 3 years at Summit Partners, one of the world's largest and longest-standing Growth Equity firms, where I was recruited as a Technology Investor out of the firm's flagship $10B Growth Equity Fund XII. At Summit, I sourced and executed on several deals and was promoted early. I additionally spent a year in Venture Capital at Griffin Gaming Partners, where I evaluated earlier-stage gaming-related opportunities. I graduated from Harvard with an AB in Psychology and Economics. While at Harvard, I designed and taught a semester-long course to the largest undergraduate Venture Capital club (100+ undergraduates).
