Deferred MBA Comprehensive Package

Deferred MBA applications require a different kind of strategy. You do not yet have the same full-time work history as a traditional MBA applicant, so the application needs to make your future potential unusually clear. The committee is looking for evidence of leadership trajectory, maturity, intellectual curiosity, career direction, and the judgment to make strong choices early. This end-to-end comprehensive support package is especially designed for college seniors, master's students, and early-career candidates applying to deferred MBA programs such as HBS 2+2, Wharton Moelis Advance Access, Stanford Deferred Enrollment, MIT Sloan MBA Early Admission, Chicago Booth Scholars, Columbia Deferred Enrollment, Kellogg Future Leaders, and other top programs. We will collaborate together to build a forward-looking application that connects your academics, internships, campus leadership, research, entrepreneurship, extracurriculars, personal background, and long-term goals. The goal is to help the admissions committee see not only what you have done so far, but why you are someone worth betting on early. This package is especially helpful if your profile has strong raw ingredients but you are not sure how to turn them into a mature MBA narrative. We will identify the leadership evidence you already have, fill gaps where possible, and frame your goals in a way that feels ambitious without sounding unrealistic. This package includes the following, but I am flexible to adapt based on your unique situation and goals: 1. Initial Kickoff and Planning Session: We'll do a kick-off session where you dive deep on your background, goals, experience, potential recommenders, aspirations, and more. From there, we'll build a custom MBA plan that helps you stay on top of your application. 2. School Selection: We will put together a list of best-fit schools based on your profile, goals, and preferences. 3. Application Strategy: We will identify your points of differentiation as an applicant and the best ways for those to shine through your application. 4. MBA Resume: We'll rework your resume and ensure it is dripping with achievement. 5. Recommender Selection: We will talk through all of your potential recommender options, pros and cons of each of them, and then build a plan for engaging with them that leads to the best combination of recommenders possible. 6. Recommender Preparation: We will work together to build out your own recommender prep docs. Those will be polished and handed off to your recommenders with plenty of time before deadlines. 7. Essay Brainstorming: We will do a deep dive into your background and experiences, pulling out themes, perspectives, and qualities that differentiate you. You'll wrestle with various narratives and ensure you are approaching each essay in the best way possible. 8. Essay Editing: After crafting your narrative, we will polish and edit until the essays are ready for submission. As many rounds of feedback and edits included to ensure you have the right final product. 9. Activities & Interests and Awards & Honors: We'll work to select the right extracurriculars, awards, and honors. Those will be polished together. 10. Final Review: I will review and perform final edits on all your application materials, ensuring everything works together and is in tip-top shape before submission. This includes your past work experience, supplemental essays, etc. 11. Interview Preparation: When you receive interview invites, we'll run through mock interviews to ensure you are prepared and confident. 12. Waitlist Strategy (if applicable) — If you're waitlisted, we will walk through creating a targeted action plan to improve your chances of admission.

Becky S.
I’m Becky Song, a Wharton MBA, former Wharton admissions fellow, professional admissions and career coach, and Founder & Executive Director of Ivy Journey (theivyjourney.com). Over the past 15+ years, I’ve helped hundreds of applicants and professionals earn admission to top MBA, master’s, and college programs, as well as land offers across consulting, strategy, and business roles. My clients have been admitted to top MBA programs (e.g., HBS, Stanford GSB, Wharton, MIT Sloan, Columbia, Kellogg, Booth, LBS, Insead, etc.) and top Ivy undergrad & grad programs. I’ve also coached 500+ candidates through career transitions, resumes, interviews, consulting recruiting, and personal positioning. What makes my coaching different is the combination of admissions judgment, career strategy, and narrative positioning. I help clients understand what schools and employers are really evaluating, then translate their background into a clear, differentiated story that feels authentic and compelling. I’m especially strong with MBA applicants, college applicants, master’s candidates, international applicants, first-generation applicants, consulting candidates, and professionals making major career pivots. Personally, I’ve navigated several pivots myself: actuary, nonprofit leader, strategy consultant, Wharton MBA, admissions fellow, founder, and career coach. If you want a coach who can help you think strategically, sharpen your story, and move through a competitive process with more clarity and confidence, I’d love to work with you!
