I spent 15 years leading engineering organizations at Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, where I built teams, developed managers, hired and promoted engineers, and navigated the pressure of high-stakes environments. Over time, I saw the same pattern: talented people rarely got stuck because they lacked ability. They got stuck because expectations were unclear, feedback was incomplete, politics were hard to read, or pressure made it difficult to think clearly. New managers were often left to figure it out alone. Strong engineers questioned themselves, burned out, or quietly disengaged. I left corporate leadership to focus on the part of the work I found most meaningful: helping people understand what is really happening, make intentional decisions, and grow without losing themselves in the process. Today I coach engineers and engineering managers who want practical, candid support. Together, we work through challenges such as stepping into management, influencing across teams, communicating with senior leaders, navigating performance conversations, rebuilding confidence, and deciding what comes next. My style is structured, direct, and judgment-free. We look closely at your situation, identify the patterns and constraints, and turn insight into specific action. I bring the perspective of a seasoned engineering leader and a trained coach, along with a deep understanding of both the technical and human sides of leadership. If you want a coach who understands the system, tells you the truth with care, and helps you move forward with clarity, I would be glad to work with you.

Tim’s Leadership Coaching Qualifications

Coaches professionally

Experience level: Director

I am qualified to coach in this category because I have spent over 15 years inside high-performing engineering organizations, including senior leadership roles at Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. I have managed engineers and managers at multiple levels, led hiring and promotion decisions, and operated in environments with real pressure, ambiguity, and consequences. I understand how engineering careers actually work in practice, not just in theory, including expectations, performance calibration, organizational politics, and the emotional load that comes with leadership. In addition to my leadership background, I bring formal coaching training and a grounded, structured approach. I do not rely on generic advice or motivational frameworks. My coaching is based on real scenarios, clear thinking, and honest feedback. I help clients understand what is happening in their role, why they may be stuck, and what specific actions will move them forward without burning out or losing themselves in the process.

Why do I coach?

Coaching matters to me because the right support changed the trajectory of my own career. Early in my time at Facebook, I worked with a coach who helped me notice what I could not see on my own: how I showed up in meetings, how anxiety shaped my decisions, and how to navigate expectations and power dynamics without losing myself. That work helped me become a more grounded leader and influenced the choices that eventually led to senior roles at LinkedIn and Pinterest. What made coaching powerful was not a formula or a list of tactics. It was having a neutral, experienced partner who could slow things down, reflect what was really happening, and help me choose an intentional response instead of a reactive one. I coach because too many capable engineers and managers are expected to navigate pivotal moments alone. A difficult transition, a confidence crisis, or an unclear relationship with a manager can shape years of a career. With the right support, those moments can become turning points. I want to provide the steady, practical partnership that once helped me. My goal is not to tell clients who to be. It is to help them see more clearly, trust their judgment, and take the next step with purpose.
